Slash your taxable income. Not your piggy bank.
Self-employed, lawyers, notaries, accountants...: your business bike is 100% deductible, and so are its gear and maintenance. We explain, we advise, and we let you try it.
*Self-employed as a natural person, depreciation over 3 years, marginal income tax rate 50% (excluding local surcharges), social contributions 20.5%, 100% professional use. Indicative amount, to be validated with your accountant.
5 levers that accumulate.
100% deductible
Unlike the car, the professional bike is not reduced by the tax authorities. Purchase depreciated over 3 years, or leasing as expenses.
All the equipment too
Helmet, lock, panniers, technical clothing, maintenance, insurance, charging.
Double effect
In person, each euro deducted reduces both your IPP and your social contributions.
No ATN
Through your company, the bike used for your professional or home-to-work journeys is exempt from any benefit.
Recoverable VAT
Taxable? The VAT on purchase and maintenance is recoverable in proportion to professional use.
Car vs bike.

You own the bike
Clever, not naive.
The deduction holds if the professional use holds. Three simple rules to be calm in case of inspection.
The bike must fit your activity. A cargo bike for someone who drives 30,000 km of motorway per year risks rejection.
Client meetings, courthouse, bank, home-office: note your typical journeys.
If you also ride at the weekend, deduct pro rata. 75 to 80% is a commonly used basis.
8 km home-court
Speed pedelec or urban electric, waterproof document bag, leasing via their SRL.
Deed visits in the city
Urban electric, approved lock, 'Care' pack for maintenance.
25 km via the F204
Speed pedelec Ellio, rainwear, purchase amortised over 3 years.
Your questions.
I am a company (SRL). Does it work too?
Yes. The company buys or leases the bike and makes it available to you. If it is used for professional travel or commuting, this use is exempt from any kind of benefit (ATN).
Is a speed pedelec or a cargo bike deductible?
Yes, like a classic or electric bike. What matters is that its professional use is plausible in relation to your activity.
And what if I also use the bike at the weekend?
As an individual, the deduction is made pro rata to the professional use. In practice, a share of 75 to 80% is often retained. Your accountant will determine yours.
Over how long do I amortise the bike?
Generally over 3 years, sometimes 4. Each year, part of the price is deducted from your income. In leasing, the monthly payments go directly to expenses.
Is the lock, helmet, maintenance, also deductible?
Yes: safety equipment, technical clothing, panniers, lock, maintenance, wear parts, insurance and electric charging.
Do you work with my accountant?
We provide you with detailed invoices (bike, equipment, maintenance) to make his job easier. For tax treatment, he has the final say.
Come and try it.
The tax office pays part. You pedal.
